Product support policy
This page states for how long each hardware generation of the RouDem receives firmware updates and security fixes, as required by the CRA (Annex II, support period) and LAC-BCOP-1 VR-01 and VR-02.
Principles
Section titled “Principles”- While a hardware generation is on sale, it receives security fixes. Fixes are delivered through the automatic update mechanism described on Firmware updates, so every unit in service receives them without action by the customer.
- After the end of sale, security fixes continue for a defined period. The period is stated per hardware generation in the table below. MiWire’s target is pending: N years after the end of sale.
- Security fixes are not tied to feature releases. A security fix may ship as a small release on its own.
- The operating system base is kept supported. The firmware is built on OpenWrt 24.10. MiWire moves the firmware to a newer OpenWrt release before upstream support for the current one ends, so that upstream security fixes keep flowing for the whole support window.
Support window per hardware generation
Section titled “Support window per hardware generation”| Hardware generation | On sale from | End of sale | Security updates until | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| RouDem 5G (Habanero board, Quectel RM520N or Telit FN990 module) | pending | still on sale | pending: end of sale + N years | Supported |
What “end of support” means
Section titled “What “end of support” means”After the date in the table:
- the unit keeps working, but MiWire no longer provides firmware updates or security fixes for it,
- MiWire will tell affected customers before the date, and the unit’s web interface will show a notice that the unit is out of support (the notice is planned for a later firmware release),
- the MiWire services the unit talks to may stop accepting connections from unsupported firmware,
- MiWire recommends replacing the unit or taking it out of service; see Factory reset and decommissioning.
Where to find the current firmware version and release notes
Section titled “Where to find the current firmware version and release notes”The version is shown on the status page of the web interface; release notes and component lists are on Firmware releases. Advisories are on Advisories.
