The Services page
The Services page (under Advanced Features in the web interface, for the admin login) lists every service the unit runs, with its current state and either a switch or the reason the service cannot be switched off. It implements LAC-BCOP-1 FR-08b: the user can disable any service that is not essential to the operation or administration of the device.
What the page shows
Section titled “What the page shows”| Row | Control | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Security event log | On and off | The one optional upload. When off, the unit stops uploading security events to MiWire; see Data processed. |
| SNMP agent | Off only | Off on every unit as delivered. Enabling it requires authentication to be configured first (a community string or SNMPv3 user agreed with you), so MiWire support enables it at your request. You can switch it off at any time. |
| Statistics upload to MiWire | Locked (on) | Needed to administer the connection, the data plan and the unit as part of the MiWire service. What it sends is listed on Communications. |
| Device management | Locked (on) | The status channel, the update check, certificate enrollment and renewal, and the support tunnel. Switching them off would stop security updates and support. |
| Anti-spoofing and bogon filters | Locked (on) | Source-address filtering (BCP 38) and filtering of addresses that must not appear on the internet. Required to be on by LAC-BCOP-1 FR-15 and FR-16. |
| Performance tests | Locked, shown only when enabled | Switched on by MiWire for customers who ordered it. Contact support to change. |
| TrackWire | Locked, shown only when enabled | Same. |
| DHCP and DNS server, Wi-Fi | Links to their own pages | Configurable there. |
Not on the page: the parts of the product that control the antenna, the modem, the compass, the LEDs, the battery and the fan. They have no network interface and are the product itself. Also not on the page: the speed test, which is an action you start, not a service.
What this means in practice
Section titled “What this means in practice”On a unit as delivered there is nothing optional listening on the network: no UPnP, no SSDP, no mDNS, no telnet, no FTP, no file sharing, no bandwidth-test server, and SNMP is off (see Services and ports). The one optional data flow the customer can stop is the security event upload. Every switch on the page is recorded in the security event log.
